2 Tips for a Model Home Entrance

Paint Your Door
Install Vinyl Laminate Flooring

This post shows Before and After pictures of our Entrance Reveal. We also installed vinyl laminate (looks like wood) over tile flooring.

Supplies:
1. Painter’s Tape
2. Sponge
3. Fine-grit sandpaper
4. High-density foam mini rollers and brushes
5. 1 quart adhesion primer
6. 1 quart satin or semigloss exterior paint

Tip #1: Paint a Metal Door

You can either remove the door and lay it on saw horses and spray the door with a paint sprayer. I highly recommend, using a paint sprayer. It has changed my life, I Refuse to use a brush, roller, or spray paint, unless I am painting walls or a craft item. I use the Home Right Max Paint Sprayer. It is Fantastic!! I can’t say enough good things about it. In fact, if you decide to use a Paint Sprayer, then you don’t need to remove the door and lay it on a saw horse because the paint sprayer sprays the paint in micro fibers which means, there is NOT a lot of dripping. Remember if you keep the door on, you are working Against Gravity and that could cause Drips if you spray too much or if you don’t let the paint dry in between coats.

Or you can keep the door installed and use a foam roller and craft brush. You could also unhinge the door and still use the foam roller and craft brush. The main thing you have to keep in mind when using a foam roller and craft brush is to pain the center inserts first, because they have a sloped angle to them and need to be brushed or rolled several times after each coat of paint has dried. Allow the paint to dry, lightly sand, and apply the second coat. When the paint is dry, score around the edge of the hinges with a knife and peel away the cement. Replace the hardware. Keep paint off the floor by sliding a piece of cardboard underneath the door. Brace the door with wood shims to hold it steady.

Tip #2: Install Vinyl Laminate Flooring
