1. Replace the flooring. We replaced the linoleum with grey laminate flooring. Cost $750. Discount Flooring Store, ReStore, Craigslist, or Locally owned Ma and Pop Shop). We had Lowes install our carpet during their Free Installation Promotion, since we did not know how to replace carpet. Then we bought laminate wood flooring, from a Liquidation Company and installed it ourselves.
2. Patch, texture, and repaint the walls. We used Grey Valspar Paint from Lowes. Visit our Wall Texture post to see how we textured our walls.
3. Replace lighting with a light/ceiling fan. Make your own Lighting or Buy Used on FB, Craigslist, Lighting Outlets, etc. Cost $100 each. $200 Total.
4. Paint the baseboards and window sills. Cost $50. A can of semi-gloss paint, will make the world of difference for pictures, and final reveal.
5. Try to keep your existing cabinetry. Paint or clean your cabinetry. Replace the hardware with a new modern style. Saving your Cabinetry will save you thousands of dollars.
6. Replace counters. Cost $100 each. Total $400.
7. Install a new sink and faucet. Cost $300.
8. Buy all new appliances (4 Pieces) Cost $1000-1500. FB, Craigslist, or Bookoo.
9. Add a backsplash Cost $300. Again go to Tile Outlets, or ask Tile stores, if they have thrown out any tile, that they had extra from a job.

Flooring
First, if you are planning on replacing the flooring, then consider making your purchase at a Liquidation or Factory Discounted Store. They can sell flooring from 30-70% Less than Regular Home Improvement Stores. Also, when you buy flooring, pick out Laminate Wood Flooring. It is engineered wood flooring that looks Real, but costs 50% Less. And it is easy to install with it’s Tongue and Groove Engineering. Here is a picture of the Grey Laminate Flooring that we used in our Kitchen. Since it’s so easy to Install, you can DIY and save Money on Labor.
You can also purchase a Wood Laminate Engineered Flooring. This is what we used in our Basement. (This is a scrap piece, but you can see how the edge has the Tongue and Groove Engineering for the pieces to fit together like a puzzle).
Walls

Third, add new lighting. We replaced the antique chandeliers with ceiling fans. It makes our kitchen cooler, since there is a lot of heat in the kitchen, while baking meals in the oven, and it keeps our Air conditioning bill down since we are using fans, to stay cool.

Cabinets and Counters
Fourth, paint the baseboards and window sills. Cost $50.
Fifth, paint or install new upper and lower cabinets. Cost $500 (on sale). It will transform your Kitchen and give you more storage.
Sixth, replace new counters. Cost $100 each. Total $400. It will make you feel better when preparing a meal in your kitchen and it will make the kitchen look brand new.

Eighth, if you are replacing all your Appliances, I recommend buying them while they are on Sale. Appliances usually go on Sale, After the 1st of the Year. Lowes, was offering a huge sale on Appliance Packages (set of 4, refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher) in January. We bought the middle grade package, (Black instead of Stainless Steel).
Ninth, Add a Tile or Glass Back splash, this will add another layer of Pop, to your Kitchen, and make it look expensive.
